Palm OS

Palm OS (also known as Garnet OS) is a retired mobile operating system. Originally developed by Palm, Inc., for a personal digital assistant (PDA) in 1996. Palm OS is designed for ease of use with a graphical user interface based touch screen. This is supported by the basic application package for personal information management. The next OS version added support for smartphones.

This operating system is written in C / C ++ programming language and is a close source. An example of a device that uses the Palm operating system is the Palm Treo 680. This smartphone uses the Palm OS operating system 5.4.9. Blackberry os

BlackBerry OS is an exclusive mobile operating system developed by BlackBerry Limited for its range of BlackBerry smartphones. The operating system provides multitasking and supports custom input devices that have been adopted by BlackBerry for use in its handhelds, especially trackwheel, trackball, and most recently, trackpads and touch screens.

The BlackBerry platform is perhaps best known for native support for enterprise email, through Java Micro Edition MIDP 1.0 and, more recently, a subset of MIDP 2.0, which enables full wireless activation and synchronization with Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino, or Novell GroupWise email, calendar, tasks , notes, and contacts, when used with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. The operating system also supports WAP 1.2.

Updates to the operating system can be automatically made available from wireless carriers that support the BlackBerry service for software (OTASL) loading. Third-party developers can write software using the available BlackBerry API classes, though applications that use certain functionality must be digitally signed. A study from June 2011 showed that about 45% of mobile developers were using the platform at the time of publication. BlackBerry OS was discontinued following the release of BlackBerry 10 on January 2013, but support for older OSs continued until late 2013.

iPhone OS

iPhone OS is a mobile operating system developed by Apple, Inc. made for their products, the iPhone and iPod Touch. This operating system is part of the Mac OS X / Unix-like operating system family. Although the operating system is a close source, its components are open source so it is easy for third parties to develop applications that can run on this operating system.

The user interface of this operating system uses the concept of direct manipulation on the handheld screen using a multi-touch gesture. Controls on the interface include sliders, switches, and buttons. The applications included in this operating system include Messaging, Calendar, Photos, Camera, Youtube, Google Maps, iPhone, Safari, and several other standard applications.
